Job Description:

The Industrial Automation Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, implementing and maintaining manufacturing manual & automation systems to optimize manufacturing layouts, processes, efficiencies and enhancements. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify areas for improvement, conducting feasibility studies, and overseeing the installation and maintenance of production line including manual/automation equipment processes.


Key Responsibilities

  • Designing and implementing high standard industrial plant layouts including manual and automation systems to improve efficiency and productivity in manufacturing environment.
    Designing and implementing efficient production processes and systems that improve efficiency and quality
  • Understanding needs of HMIs (Human Machine Interfaces) and automated processes, collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify automation needs and drive though to develop solutions.
  • Developing full blown process flows for entire line with cycle time calculations and measuring them with lean six sigma developed tools DMAIC, DMADV, Valure steam mapping, cause and effect analysis, process mapping, Kanban system etc.
  • Conducting time and motion studies to identify areas for improvement in production processes. Analyzing production data to identify trends and areas for improvement. Developing and implementing cost reduction strategies
  • Conduct Capacity planning and forecasting to ensure that production planning targets are aligned with the requirements and business goals. Understands the needs for manual and automation needs, capacity expansion plans for future. Work with automation design team for development of automation solutions.
  • Conducting feasibility studies with cost-benefit analyses for implementation of high-performance production line with manual and automation projects.
  • Developing and implementing safety protocols and procedures for manual and automated processes in the manufacturing line.
  • Develop work instructions with QA and implement in the line, training and providing technical support to operators and automation machine personnel on automation systems for production line.
  • Preparing reports and presentations on production data and process improvements. Training and supervising production staff on new processes and procedures. Ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations
  • Develop and train line changeover and qualification of the line concepts and train the production team. Manage and conduct employee training for productivity improvement projects, and mentor fellow engineers and technicians.
  • Responsible for driving OEE and measuring the performance with tools, generate reports for each station. Monitor, identify and analyzing data for gaps, identify areas for improvement and optimize performance.
  • Staying updated with the latest advancements in industrial automation technology and recommending innovative solutions to enhance operations while adhering to local and national regulations

Industrial Engineer requirements and qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering or related field with 5-7 years of working experience in manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software, SolidWorks, Simulation software’s etc as comprehensive management of IE tools with complete knowledge how to use them. Advanced experience with Microsoft Access, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of advanced product quality planning (APQP) and production part approval process (PPAP), In-depth understanding of lean manufacturing principles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, Knowledge of manufacturing processes and systems, ability to design and implement efficient production processes
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Experience with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies, knowledge of Six Sigma methodology. Experience with data analysis and statistical process control
  • Ability to lead and manage cross-functional teams. Knowledge of safety regulations and compliance standards, strong leadership and decision-making skills.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
